Subject: REAR BRAKES SHOES TEMPORARILY FREEZE TO DRUMS (NEW PART NUMBER FOR SHOES)

Models Affected: 1991-92 BONNEVILLE MODELS -----------------------------------------------------------------------------

THIS BULLETIN CANCELS AND REPLACES BULLETIN 91-5-13 ISSUED 5191. THIS BULLETIN IS BEING REVISED TO INCLUDE 1992 MODELS.

CONDITION:

---------- Some 1991-92 Bonneville models may experience the following condition. When the rear brake shoes are damp and the ambient temperature 32 degrees Fahrenheit or lower, the shoes may temporarily freeze to the brake drum. This normally occurs after the vehicle has gone through an automatic car wash or heavy slush and then is parked for some time.

CORRECTION:

----------- If a customer should comment on the above condition, replace both left and right brake shoes with the listed part numbers. The shoes have a lower metallic content and will more easily break loose from the brake drum.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
