UPDATE-REMOVAL PROCEDURE EXHAUST MANIFOLD

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1989-90 C AND H CARS

This bulletin contains the revised procedure for removing the right side exhaust manifold. This revised procedure replaces the procedure published in Section 6A5A 1989 C-H and Section 6A8 1990 C-H Service Manuals.

Remove or Disconnect

1. Negative battery cable. 2. Spark plug wires from spark plugs. 3. Throttle cable bracket. 4. Crossover pipe heat shield. 5. Transaxle oil level indicator and indicator tube. 6. Oxygen sensor lead. 7. EGR pipe. 8. Two bolts attaching exhaust crossover pipe to manifold. 9. Plastic vacuum tank mounted on cowl. 10. Raise vehicle and suitably support, see Section OA. 11. Catalytic converter heat shield and pipe hanger. 12. Front exhaust pipe to exhaust manifold attaching nuts. 13. Front exhaust pipe from exhaust manifold. 14. Lower vehicle. 15. Engine lift bracket. 16. Exhaust manifold nuts and manifold.

Install or Connect

To complete installation, reverse the removal procedure.
