'DRUMMING' SOUND IN ROOF PANEL (REPAIR PROCEDURE) W/4 DOOR

Models Affected: 1989 BONNEVILLE 4-DOOR MODELS

In the event, a "drumming type" noise is heard in the roof panel area, it will be necessary to install sound deadener patches to the underside of the roof panel.

To correct this condition use the following repair procedure:

1. Remove headliner assembly as described in the 1989 Body Service Manual, Section 8-2.

2. Obtain sound deadener patch, part number 20742581 (305 x 305mm).

3. The repair involves splitting two of the patches and placing them between the number 1, 2, 3 and 4 roof bows. On the open area behind the number 3 bow, two of the full patches (20742581) should be used, See Figure 1.

4. Reinstall headliner assembly.
