CHOKE RELAY BUZZ REPLACE RELAY WITH NEW P/N

1982-85 6000 MODELS AND 1982-84 PHOENIX MODELS WITH LE2 AND LH7 2.8L V6 ENGINE

Some vehicles may exhibit a choke relay "buzz" condition when the ignition key is turned "off" when the A/C heater mode selector is in the "off" position (no blower operation) . This "buzz" condition can be eliminated by replacing the old relay, P/N 14039662, with a new relay, P/N 14089568, which has a diode in series with the relay coil.

This new relay is an interim release for the 1985 models.

The illustrations show the location of choke relay on both the 6000 and Phoenix.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
