RIGHT COOLING FAN STALL REPL. FAN/ADD UNDERBODY SCREEN

SUBJECT: RIGHT COOLING FAN STALL (REPLACE COOLING FAN AND ADD AN UNDERBODY SCREEN)

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1990-92 OLDSMOBILE TORONADO

Some 1990-1992 Oldsmobile Toronados prior to VIN breakpoint NU304238 may experience a stalling condition of the right cooling fan. This may be due to an ingestion of road debris by the fan motor. The aerodynamics of this vehicle allows ram air to be picked up from the road, which may be littered with plastic bags and wrappers. To prevent this condition, replace the damaged cooling fan, if necessary, and add an underbody screen which has been developed to protect the fan from ingesting road debris.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
