Some 1990 Toronados equipped with a Driver Information Display (DID) and cellular telephone may experience distorted graphics on the DID cellular phone theft alarm page. This condition occurs when the ignition key is turned on with the DID controller wake-up line active and phone theft alarm enabled.
Some 1990 Toronados equipped with a DID may also experience a lack of a "stereo" indicator during AM stereo broadcast.
Both of these conditions can be corrected by replacing the DID controller with P/N 3531429. Do not order this part from GMSPO since it is an exchange part. Refer to the 1990 Trofeo/Toronado Service Manual, page 8C-9, for the replacement procedure, Management Bulletin 90-I-12 for the exchange procedure, and Management Bulletin 91-I-14 for locations of the 26 AC-Delco shops offering the exchange part.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
