1988 TORONADO
Owner comments may be received of wind noise in the area of the outside mirror in either door of early produced Toronado or Trofeo models. This may be due to an insufficient seal between the door window frame, run channel retainer and the molding assembly.
To repair this condition, pull the run channel out of the retainer from the vertical channel, at the mirror, back about 14". DO NOT DISENGAGE THE VERTICAL PORTION OF THE CHANNEL.
Apply caulking such as 3M 08578 or equivalent to the junction of the molding assembly, window frame and across the end of the retainer. A 3/4" ball or one strip of caulking is about the amount of material required when applied as shown in Figure 1.
Reinstall the run channel making sure it is fully seated.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
