The door window adjustment procedure was not included in the 1992 Ninety-Eight and Touring Sedan Service Manual and the 1992 Eighty-Eight Service Manual. In addition, the procedure for removing and replacing the front door lock cylinder on 1991 Ninety-Eight and 1992 Eighty-Eight and Ninety-Eight has changed. Following are both procedures.
Adjust
1. Ensure window is in full up position. 2. Disconnect negative battery cable. 3. Remove trim panel and water deflector. Refer to procedures in the service manual. 4. Loosen front run channel bolts. 5. Loosen window-to-module sash nuts. 6. Grasp window and move it rearward and upward into seal to assure full engagement of window to run channel. 7. Tighten window-to-module sash nuts to 12 N - m (i 06 lb. in.). 8. Tighten front run channel bolts to 12 N - m (i 15 lb. in.). 9. Install water deflector and trim panel. Refer to procedures in the service manual. 10. Connect negative battery cable. 11. Cycle window up and down to check operation.
Adjust
1. Ensure window is in full up position. 2. Disconnect negative battery cable. 3. Remove trim panel and water deflector. Refer to procedures in the service manual. 4. Loosen sash nuts and front channel assembly upper bolt. 5. With window in full up position, push window upward and forward. 6. Tighten sash nuts to 12 N - m (i 06 lb. in.) and front channel assembly upper bolt to 13 N - m (1 15 lb. in.). 7. Install water deflector and trim panel. Refer to procedures in the service manual. 8. Connect negative battery cable. 9. Cycle window up and down to check operation.
Remove or Disconnect
1. Door trim panel. Refer to procedure in the service manual. 2. Water deflector. Refer to procedure in the service manual. 3. Outside door handle-to-lock mechanism rod at the lock mechanism. 4. Outside door handle-to-lock mechanism rod at the lock cylinder. 5. Two bolts and the outside door handle from the door. 6. One nut and the lock cylinder from the outside door handle.
Install or Connect
1. Lock cylinder and nut to the outside door handle. Tighten nut to 6 N - m (53 lb. in.). 2. Outside door handle and bolts to door. Tighten bolts to 8 N - m (71 lb. in.). 3. Lock cylinder-to-lock mechanism rod at the lock cylinder. 4. Outside door handle-to-lock mechanism rod at the lock mechanism. 5. Water deflector. Refer to procedure in the service manual. 6. Door trim panel. Refer to procedure in the service manual.
