OIL PRESSURE SWITCH/SENDER WIRING (NEW SERVICE PROCEDURE)

SUBJECT: OIL PRESSURE SWITCH OR SENDER/SWITCH WIRING - SERVICE PROCEDURE

MODELS/YEARS: 1991 NINETY EIGHT AND TOURING SEDAN

CONDITION: Inoperative or "on" continually oil pressure warning lamp, low pressure indication or erratic oil pressure gage or blown ignition fuse for circuit 839 on 1991 Ninety Eight or Touring Sedan models built before vehicle number M4338422.

CAUSE: Oil pressure warning lamp/sender switch and fuel pump harness rubs through and opens or shorts to ground at the oil filter adapter housing.

CORRECTION: Repair or replace the wire(s) and install a piece of electrical conduit long enough to protect the harness from rubbing at the oil filter adapter housing (see illustration). Vehicles built after the vehicle number listed above have the conduit installed.
