Did you perform the Lighting System Diagnostic System Check?

  1. Turn the ignition to the ON position.
  2. Turn the headlamp switch to the PARK position.
  3. Turn the dimmer switch to a high position.

Are all the I/P lamps on?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Are all of the interior backlighting inoperative?

Go to Step 7

Are any of the VF dimming displays inoperative?

Go to Step 15

Are both steering wheel control switches illuminated?

Go to Step 13

Is one steering wheel control switch illuminated?

Check the PANEL DIMMING fuse for an open.

Is the PANEL DIMMING fuse open?

Go to Step 22

  1. Turn the headlamp switch to the PARK position.
  2. With the PANEL DIMMING fuse in the instrument panel fuse block.
  3. Backprobe the parklamp switch on signal circuit of the PANEL DIMMING fuse with a test lamp that is connected to a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 11

  1. Remove both steering wheel control switches.
  2. Probe the IP lamp supply voltage circuit of each steering wheel control switch with a test lamp connected to ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 19

  1. Remove the appropriate steering wheel control switch.
  2. Probe the IP lamp supply voltage circuit of the appropriate steering wheel control switch with a test lamp connected to ground

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Test for a poor connection or an open in the I/P lamp fuse supply voltage circuit of the headlamp switch. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
