Did you perform the Lighting System Diagnostic System Check?

  1. Turn the ignition to the OFF position.
  2. Turn the headlamp switch to the OFF position.

Do the low and high beam headlamps remain off?

Remove the headlamp relay.

Do the headlamps turn off?

Disconnect the headlamp switch.

DO the headlamps turn off?

Test for a short to ground in the headlamp switch signal circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Disconnect the underhood fuse block connector C2.

Do the headlamps turn off?

  1. Reconnect the underhood fuse block connector C2.
  2. Disconnect the underhood fuse block connector C3.

Do all of the headlamps turn off?

  1. reinstall the headlamp relay.
  2. Disconnect the BCM connector C3.

Do all of the headlamps turn off?

Test for a short to ground in the headlamp relay control circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. Expose the ambient light sensor to strong incandescent lamp.
  4. With a scan tool, observe the ambient light sensor parameter in the body control module (BCM) data list.

Does the scan tool indicate that the ambient light sensor input parameter is within the specified range?

0.5-2.5 Volts

Repair a short to ground in the headlamp signal circuit between connector C2 of the underhood fuse block and C201. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair a short to ground in the illuminated headlamp signal circuit Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the headlamp switch.

Refer to Multifunction Turn Signal Lever Replacement - On Vehicle in Steering Wheel and Column.

Replace the underhood fuse block. Refer to Underhood Electrical Center or Junction Block Replacement in Wiring Systems.

Replace the headlamp relay. Refer to Relay Replacement in Wiring Systems.

Replace the ambient light sensor. Refer to Daytime Running Lamp (DRL) Ambient Light Sensor Replacement

Important: Perform the set up procedures for the body control module. Refer to Body Control Module (BCM) Programming/RPO Configuration in Body Control System.

Replace the BCM. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement in Body Control System.
