Removal Procedure

  1. Verify that the multifunction turn signal lever is in the center of the OFF position.
  2. Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.

  5. Disable the SIR Refer to Disabling the SIR System in SIR.
  6. Remove the inflatable restraint steering wheel module. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Replacement in SIR.
  7. Remove the steering wheel. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement .
  8. Remove the upper and lower steering column trim covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers Replacement - On Vehicle .
  9. Remove the wire harness straps (1) from the wire harness assembly (2).

  11. Remove the wire harness assembly (1) from the wire harness strap (2).

  12. Object Number: 322982  Size: SH
  13. Remove the 2 multifunction turn signal switch screws (1).
  14. Remove the multifunction turn signal switch assembly (2).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the multifunction turn signal switch. Use a small flat-blade in order to compress the electrical contact and move the multifunction turn signal switch into position.

  2. Object Number: 322982  Size: SH
  3. Verify that the electrical contact rests on the canceling cam.
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the multifunction turn signal switch assembly (2) and secure by using 2 pan head tapping screws (1).
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 7 N·m (62 lb in).

  7. Route the wire harness assembly (1) along the steering column jacket assembly.
  8. Install the wire harness assembly (1) into the wire harness strap (2).

  9. Object Number: 322934  Size: SH
  10. Install the wire harness strap (2) to the upper tilt head assembly (1).
  11. Install the wire harness strap (2) onto the wire harness assembly.

  12. Verify that the lever is in the center or the OFF position.
  13. Install the inflatable restraint steering wheel module. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Replacement .
  14. Install the upper and lower steering column trim covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers Replacement - On Vehicle .
  15. Install the steering wheel. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement .
  16. Enable the SIR. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in SIR.
  17. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
