Removal Procedure

    Caution: Wear safety glasses when using compressed air in order to prevent eye injury.

    Notice: Cap the fittings and plug the holes when servicing the fuel system in order to prevent dirt and other contaminants from entering the open pipes and passages.

    Important: Always maintain cleanliness when servicing fuel system components.

  1. Relieve the fuel system pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief .

  2. Object Number: 155410  Size: SH
  3. Blow out dirt from quick-connect fittings at both ends, using compressed air.

  4. Object Number: 12777  Size: SH
  5. Squeeze the plastic tabs of the male end connector.

  6. Object Number: 12778  Size: SH
  7. Pull the connection apart.
  8. Repeat the procedure for the other fitting.

  9. Wipe off the male pipe end using a clean shop towel.
  10. Clean or replace the components or assemblies as required.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 155425  Size: SH

    Caution: Always apply a few drops of clean engine oil to the male pipe ends before connecting the fuel pipe fittings in order to reduce the risk of fire and personal injury. This will ensure proper reconnection and prevent a possible fuel leak. During normal operation, the O-rings located in the female connector will swell and may prevent proper reconnection if not lubricated.

  1. Apply a few drops of clean oil to the male pipe end.

  2. Object Number: 155771  Size: SH
  3. Push both sides of the quick-connect fitting together in order to cause the retaining tabs/fingers to snap into place.

  4. Object Number: 155399  Size: SH
  5. Pull on both sides of the quick connect fitting in order to ensure that the connection is secure.
  6. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
  7. Inspect the fuel system for leaks by performing the following steps:
  8. 5.1. Turn ON the ignition for 2 seconds.
    5.2. Turn OFF the ignition for 10 seconds.
    5.3. Turn ON the ignition.
    5.4. Inspect for fuel leaks.
