J 38778 Door Trim Pad and Garnish Clip Remover

1. Raise and suitably support the rear of the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
2. Remove the rear tire and wheel assemblies. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.



3. Remove the rear bumper fascia to rear wheelhouse nut.



4. Remove the rear bumper fascia splash shield to rear bumper fascia screws.



5. Use the J 38778 to remove the rear bumper fascia splash shield to rear bumper fascia push-in retainer.



6. Remove the rear bumper fascia splash shield from the wheelhouse.

1. Install the rear bumper fascia splash shield to the wheelhouse.




Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

2. Install the rear bumper fascia to rear wheelhouse nut.

Tighten
Tighten the rear bumper fascia splash shield to rear wheelhouse nut to 2 N·m (18 lb in).




3. Install the rear bumper fascia splash shield to rear bumper fascia screws.

Tighten
Tighten the rear bumper fascia splash shield to rear bumper fascia screws to 2 N·m (18 lb in).




4. Install the rear bumper fascia splash shield to rear bumper fascia push-in retainer.
5. Install the rear tire and wheel assemblies. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
6. Lower the vehicle.
