Removal Procedure

  1. Open the rear compartment.
  2. Remove the rear compartment sill plate. Refer to Rear Compartment Sill Trim Plate Replacement .
  3. Remove the rear compartment trim panel. Refer to Rear Compartment Trim Panel Replacement .
  4. Use a grease pencil to mark the location of the lock striker to the rear compartment.

  5. Object Number: 182261  Size: SH
  6. Remove the rear compartment lid lock striker to rear body panel inside bolts.
  7. Remove the rear bumper fascia. Refer to Rear Bumper Fascia Replacement in Bumpers.
  8. Remove the rear compartment lid lock striker to rear body panel outside bolts.
  9. Remove the rear compartment lid lock striker from the rear body panel.

Installation Procedure

  1. Position the rear compartment lid lock striker to the alignment marks on the rear body panel.
  2. Important: Do not tighten the rear compartment lid lock striker to rear body panel bolts directly after installation to allow for proper adjustment of the rear compartment lid lock striker.

  3. Install the rear compartment lid lock striker to rear body panel bolts.
  4. Close the rear compartment to set adjustment of compartment lid.
  5. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  6. Tighten the rear compartment lid lock striker to rear body panel outside bolts.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the rear compartment lid lock striker to rear body panel outside bolts to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).

    Important:  Due to sealer squeeze out on rear compartment lid lock striker bolts/screws, recheck fastener tightening specifications at least two times.

  8. Tighten the rear compartment lid lock striker to rear body panel inside bolts.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the rear compartment lid lock striker to body panel inside bolts to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).

  10. Install the rear compartment trim. Refer to Rear Compartment Trim Panel Replacement .
  11. Install the rear compartment sill plate. Refer to Rear Compartment Sill Trim Plate Replacement .
  12. Install the rear bumper fascia. Refer to Rear Bumper Fascia Replacement in Bumpers.
  13. Close the rear compartment.
