J 38778 Door Trim Pad and Garnish Clip Remover

1. Remove the rear shelf. Refer to Rear Window Shelf Trim Panel Replacement .
2. Disconnect the electric connector (located under the rear shelf) to the headliner wiring harness.
3. Remove the sunshades. Refer to Sunshade Replacement .
4. Remove the sunshade retainers. Refer to Sunshade Anchor Replacement .
5. Disconnect the electric connector to the rearview mirror.
6. Remove the coat hook. Refer to Coat Hook Replacement .
7. Remove the side assist handle. Refer to Assist Handle Replacement .
8. Remove the windshield pillar garnish molding. Refer to Windshield Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement .
9. Remove the upper quarter trim panels. Refer to Rear Quarter Upper Trim Panel Replacement .
10. Recline the front seats as far as possible to the rearward position.
11. Remove the upper center pillar trim panels. Refer to Center Pillar Upper Trim Panel Replacement .
12. Pull down on the door weather-strip seal on the front doors.
13. Pull down on the door weather-strip seal on the rear doors.



14. Pull down the headliner around the sunroof opening to release from the hook and loop retainers.
15. Use theJ 38778 to remove the two rear headliner to roof push-in retainers.
16. Remove the headliner from the vehicle through the right front door.

Important: Do not bend the headliner when installing.

1. Align the headliner to the vehicle through the right front door.
2. Align the sunshade holes in the headliner with the respective hole in the body structure in order to install the headliner.
3. Install the passenger's side sunshade retainer to correctly align the front of the headliner to the roof. Refer to Sunshade Anchor Replacement .
4. Connect the electric connector to the rearview mirror.
5. Install the two rear headliner to roof push-in retainers.
6. Push up on the headliner around the sunroof opening to secure the headliner to the hook and loop retainers.
7. Install the door weather-strip seal to hold the headliner in place on the front doors.
8. Install the door weather-strip seal to hold the headliner in place on the back doors.
9. Install the upper center pillar trim panels. Refer to Center Pillar Upper Trim Panel Replacement .
10. Connect the electric connector (located under the rear shelf) to the headliner wiring harness.
11. Install the rear shelf. Refer to Rear Window Shelf Trim Panel Replacement .
12. Install the upper quarter trim panels. Refer to Rear Quarter Upper Trim Panel Replacement .
13. Install the windshield pillar garnish molding. Refer to Windshield Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement .
14. Install the assist handle. Refer to Assist Handle Replacement .
15. Install the coat hook. Refer to Coat Hook Replacement .
16. Install the remaining sunshade retainer. Refer to Sunshade Anchor Replacement .
17. Install the sunshades. Refer to Sunshade Replacement .
