The sunroof glass panel controls the entry of water at
the seal. If the sunroof glass panel is correctly adjusted, the fit between
the weather-strip and the roof is snug.
Complete the following steps in order to test the fit:
• | Insert a piece of paper between the roof and the weather-strip. |
• | Close the sunroof glass panel. |
If you notice some resistance when you pull out the paper, the fit is
correct. A minimal gap is necessary in order to ensure that the water to the
sunroof drain hoses is not excessive. Excessive gap clearance may cause objectionable
wind noise.
• | Complete all adjustments of the sunroof glass panel to the roof
by changing the height and centering of the sunroof glass panel. Refer to
Sunroof Panel Vertical Adjustment
. |
• | A drain trough encircles the sliding sunroof glass panel and leads
to the drain hoses located at each corner of the housing. |
| A drain channel spans the rear of the sunroof module and directs water
into the trough. |
• | Ensure that the front drain hoses are routed down the windshield
pillar and out the center of the pillar between the door hinges. Refer to
Sunroof Drain Hose Replacement
. |
| This drain system provides adequate drainage for the sunroof module. |
• | Complete the following steps if the headlining is wet or other
waterleaks occur: |
1. | Verify that the drainage system is not plugged. |
Clean the drainage system if the system is plugged:
1.1. | Use a pint size container in order to pour water into the module
housing drain trough. |
1.2. | Use compressed air in order to blow out any material that is plugging
the drain system. |
1.3. | Test the drainage system again. |
3. | Inspect the drainage system for disconnected drain hoses. |
4. | Complete the following steps in order to obtain partial access
to drain hoses and inspect for disconnects: |
4.1. | Withdraw the tucked headliner. |
4.4. | Verify that the rear drain hoses are properly routed in the metal
roof slot and taped in place. |
4.5. | verify that the front drain hoses are routed properly and are
not being pinched by the roof panel. |
