Removal Procedure
- Remove the rear door trim panel. Refer to
Rear Side Door Trim Panel Replacement

- Remove the rear door water deflector. Refer to
Rear Side Door Water Deflector Replacement
.
- Remove the rear door outside handle rod from the rod-to-lock plastic
clip.
- Discard the rod-to-lock clip.
- Remove the rear door handle to door bolts.
- Remove the rear door outside
handle from the rear door.
- Remove the rear door handle rod from the rear door outside handle.
Installation Procedure
- Install a new rod-to-lock clip to the lock.
- Install the rear door outside handle rod to the rear door handle.
- Align the rear door outside door handle, with the rod attached,
to the rear door.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the rear
outside door handle bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
- Position the handle rod
in the rod-to-lock clip eliminating all rear door outside handle free play.
- Apply pressure to the rod-to-lock clip until closed.
- Install the rear door water deflector. Refer to

- Install the rear door trim panel. Refer to
Rear Side Door Trim Panel Replacement
.
