Removal Procedure
Tools Required
J 25070 Heat Gun
Important: Be sure to take accurate measurements before removal to position the
emblem properly during installation.
- Use aJ 25070
to heat
the hood emblem holding it about 152 mm (6 in) from the emblem
surface.
Apply the heat using a circular motion for about 30 seconds.
- Peel the hood emblem from
the panel surface using a flat-bladed tool, being careful not to damage paint.
- Remove all adhesive from the body panel and the back of the hood
emblem using 3M™ scotch brite molding adhesive remover disk 3M™
P/N 07501 or equivalent.
- Clean the body panel using Varnish Makers and Painters (VMP) naphtha.
Installation Procedure
- Warm the body panel with a heat lamp or heat gun to a minimum
of 21°C (70°F).
- Peel the backing from
the front end of the hood emblem.
Do not touch the adhesive backing.
- Press the hood emblem to the body while continuing to remove the
backing.
- Hand roll the hood emblem to the body panel to ensure proper adhesion.
- Inspect the hood emblem for bonding.
Hand roll loose ends.
