Directly wired inputs are provided for:
• | Right and Left Turn Signal Indicators |
• | High Beam Indicator |
• | Low Washer Fluid |
• | Low Coolant Level |
• | Brake Warning |
All other inputs to the IP cluster are through a Class 2 serial data communications link .
The primary instruments (Speedometer, Temperature, Fuel and Tachometer) are driven by information from the data link to the IP cluster micro processor and then through the stepper motor driver.
The electronic transmission gear select Position Indicator (PRNDL) in the cluster is driven by information received from the transmission position switch through the PCM and then to the IP cluster micro processor and the PRNDL/ODO driver. Selection of the season/trip function and the reset of the Odometer are accomplished through the use of a single switch.
Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) are used for the Brake, Seat Belt, Air Bag, Anti-Lock and Trac OFF indicators. These are all controlled through the IP cluster micro processor and the related LED driver. Data for their operation is obtained through data link communications with the exception of the Brake indicator which also has a hard wire input for brake pressure.
