Verify that the tachometer is inaccurate.

Does the system operate normally?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
2. Using the scan tool, select Instrument Panel Cluster, Special Functions, IPC Gauges and command the tachometer UP.

Does the tachometer complete a full sweep when commanded?

Go to Powertrain On Board Diagnostic (OBD) System Check in Engine Controls - 3.5L

Go to Step 4

Replace the instrument cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .

Did you complete the repair?
