Did you perform the Lighting System Diagnostic System Check?

  1. Turn the ignition to the ON position.
  2. Close all the doors and turn the I/P lamp dimmer switch to the DOME position.

Are the courtesy lamps on?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems.

Go to Step 3

  1. Remove the I/P lamp dimmer switch.
  2. Using a test lamp, probe the I/P lamp dimmer switch from the dome lamp switched output circuit to the dome lamp switched ground circuit.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 4

Go to Step 5

Replace the I/P lamp dimmer switch.

Refer to Instrument Panel Multifunction Switch Assembly Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges, and Console.

Did you complete the repair?

Go to Step 8

Using a test lamp connected to a known good ground, probe the dome lamp switched output circuit at the I/P lamp dimmer switch.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 6

Repair a poor connection or an open the dome lamp ground circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you complete the repair?

Go to Step 10

Inspect for a poor connection or an open in the dome lamp switched output circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is there a poor connection or an open in the circuit?

Go to Step 8

Repair a poor connection or an open in the dome lamp switched output circuit.
