This bulletin is to inform technicians of a change in the service replacement spark plug for the 1989-91, Eighty-Eight models, and 1989-90 Ninety-Eight and Toronado models with the 3800 (VIN C) engine, and 1991 Ninety-Eight and Toronado models with the 3800 T.P.I. (VIN L) engine.
When servicing vehicles listed above, technicians may use the new service replacement spark plug R45LTS6, service package number 5614224.
Engines produced after March 1, 1991 will have the new R45LTS6 spark plug installed. When replacing spark plugs in vehicles with the old design spark plug number R44LTS6, all spark plugs may be replaced with the new service spark plug R45LTS6.
As service stock of the R44LTS6 spark plug is exhausted, stock will be replaced with the new spark plug R45LTS6.
