MODIFICATIONS TO 1988 'H' SUPPLEMENTAL INFLATABLE RESTRAINT (SIR) SERVICE TESTER - J 36884

Due to a change in the Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) power supply for 1989, the Delta 88 SIR service tester will not be able to completely diagnose SIR Electrical System Faults in 1989 Delta 88, 98 or serviced 1988 Delco 88's with 1989 power supplies (Part Number 16129684 or 16130104). A revised diagnostic procedure (1989 Service Manual supplement, Section 9J) and modified tester J 36884-A are to be used for 1988-89 SIR Oldsmobile vehicles. Mail your service tester with return address information and phone number A.S.A.P. This no charge modification will require a 3-4 week return delivery and will include a copy of the 1989 SIR Diagnostic Supplement (9J) service procedure.

On a contingency basis, the 1988 service tester can be used on 1989 Olds SIR vehicles except for checking the power supply function, Steps 6 and 7 of Section 9J-7. Should you need a tester while yours is out for modification, contact your Zone Training Centre.
