SUBJECT: SERVICE MANUAL UPDATE - I/P:DIGITAL CLUSTER U52 REPLACEMENT TESTS OR PRNDL DECODER

MODELS/YEARS: 1988-91 EIGHTY EIGHT, AND 1988-90 NINETY EIGHT

The PRNDL DECODER MODULE EXCHANGE TEST, found in the above mentioned Service Manuals is not practical due to the lack of new parts to tryout at dealerships. It also reflects a "parts changing" attitude toward diagnosis which should be discouraged.

The enclosed tests replace the PRNDL DECODER MODULE EXCHANGE TEST found on the following pages:

- 1991 Eighty-Eight, page 8A-82-15 (Test J) - 1990 Eighty Eight\Ninety Eight, page 8A-82-15 (Test J) - 1988 Eighty Eight\Ninety Eight, page 8A-82-16 (Test M)

Please update your respective Service Manual accordingly.
