REPEAT PARK/TURN BULB BURN OUT-INSTALL FOAM TAPE IN HSG

SUBJECT: REPEAT PARK/TURN BULB BURN OUT (INSTALL FOAM TAPE IN LAMP HOUSING)

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1988-90 OLDSMOBILE CUTLASS SUPREME COUPE

CONDITION: Repeat front park/turn bulb burn-OUT

CAUSE: Excessive lamp housing vibration.

CORRECTION:

1. Open hood.

2. Remove grille/lamp assembly from vehicle and disconnect bulb socket from lamp housing.

3. Remove lamp housing from grille.

4. Apply 1/2 inch (12 mm) wide 2-sided foam tape such as 3M Scotch-Mount Super Automotive Attachment Tape (3M #06382) or equivalent to the lamp retaining tab on the lower edge of the lamp. The tape should start on the front side of the tab and wrap around to the back side as shown in Fig. 1.

5. Reverse Steps 1-3 to reinstall the lamp and grille.

6. Repeat for other side.
