Service Manual Section 8A, 1988 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme page 31-3 and 1989 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme page 31-4. The Symptom Table on the indicated pages is incorrect.
Symptom F should be deleted and the following Troubleshooting Hint should be added to the same page.
If both the Primary and Secondary Coolant Fans do not come on when refrigerant pressure exceeds 1380 kpa (200 psi), disconnect the A/C Intermediate Pressure Switch (1988 Cutlass Supreme) Engine Coolant Fan A/C Refrigerant Pressure Switch (1989 Cutlass Supreme). If the fans now come on replace the switch. If the fans do not come on check wiring to switch for a short to ground. If wiring is okay refer to Section 6E3.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
