MANUAL MIRROR KNOB TOO LONG PROCEDURE TO REPAIR

1988 CUTLASS SUPREME MODEL WITH MANUAL MIRRORS

Some owners of early built Cutlass Supreme models may comment on hitting the mirror knob with their knee and putting the mirror out of adjustment. This condition occurs in vehicles built up through VIN Code JD306000.

This condition can be repaired by shortening the mirror knob.

1. Cut off knob 3/8 in. below knob

2. Wrap knob in cloth covered, round-jaw vise grips

3. Cut stem off knob with hacksaw

4. Drill a 1/8 in. diameter hole, 1/4 in. deep in knob

5. Clean with small file

6. Install Loctite 454 gel or equivalent on stem of mirror and install knob until it bottoms out
