SUBJECT: ENGINE DOES NOT STAY RUNNING ON INITIAL COLD START

MODELS/YEARS: 1989-90 CUTLASS CIERA WITH 4T60 AND 3300; 1990 CUTLASS CIERA AND CUTLASS CALAIS WITH 3T40 AND-3300

NOTE: This bulletin cancels and supersedes 89-T-134.

Some 1989-90 Cutlass Ciera and Cutlass Calais models equipped with a 3300 engine, (VIN N), may experience a condition described as engine does not stay running on initial cold start and/or experience poor cold engine performance.

If these conditions are experienced on a vehicle when the basic engine controls and systems are performing properly, and cannot be repaired by using currently published service and diagnostic procedures, it may be necessary to install a new service Mem-Cal.

New service Mem-Cals are currently available through GMSPO under the following part numbers:
