Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
  2. Disconnect the electrical connector from the cruise control module.

  3. Object Number: 329490  Size: SH
  4. Open the throttle body cam slightly.
  5. Disconnect the cruise control cable from the throttle body cam lever.
  6. Remove the cruise control cable from the throttle body bracket.
  7. Remove the cruise control cable from the retainer clip on the engine.

  9. Disconnect the cruise control cable from the cruise control module by turning the cable ¼ turn counterclockwise.
  10. Disconnect the cruise control cable slug from the ribbon buckle.
  11. Remove the cruise control cable from the engine compartment.

  13. Release the retainer strap from the cruise control module mounting bracket.

  14. Object Number: 740528  Size: SH
  15. Remove the cruise control module from the mounting bracket.

  16. Object Number: 737625  Size: SH
  17. Reposition the surge tank to access the bolts to the cruise control mounting bracket. Refer to Radiator Surge Tank Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  18. Disconnect the wiring harness from the connector and reposition the wiring harness.
  19. Remove the bolts from the cruise control mounting bracket.
  20. Remove the cruise control mounting bracket from the engine compartment.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 737625  Size: SH
  1. Position the cruise control mounting bracket to the engine compartment.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the bolts to the cruise control mounting bracket.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to the cruise control module to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  5. Connect the wiring harness to the connector and reposition the wiring harness.

  7. Position the cruise control module to the mounting bracket.

  8. Object Number: 740525  Size: SH
  9. Attach the retainer strap to the cruise control module mounting bracket pressing into place until fully seated.
  10. Important: The ribbon must not be twisted.

  11. Connect the cruise control cable slug to the ribbon buckle.

  12. Object Number: 740527  Size: SH
  13. Insert the cruise control cable into the cruise control module until the seal touches the module.
  14. Position the narrow cable tab into the narrow slot and the wide tab into the wide slot.
  15. Important: The adjuster tab must be pointing toward the front of the car after installation.

  16. Connect the cruise control cable to the cruise control module by turning the cable clockwise.

  18. Connect the electrical connector to the cruise control module.
  19. Install the cruise control cable to the retainer clip on the engine.
  20. Install the cruise control cable to the throttle body bracket pressing into place until fully seated.

  21. Object Number: 329490  Size: SH
  22. Open the throttle body cam slightly.
  23. Connect the cruise control cable to the throttle body cam lever.
  24. Adjust the cruise control cable if there is any slack in the cable. Refer to Cruise Control Cable Adjustment .
  25. Reposition the surge tank. Refer to Radiator Surge Tank Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  26. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
