Front Side Door Trim Panel Replacement Oldsmobile

Pad Clip Remover
Removal Procedure
- Remove the window regulator handle, if equipped. Refer to
Door Window Regulator Handle Replacement
.
- Remove the front door warning reflector. Refer to
Front Side Door Warning Reflector Replacement
.
- Remove the door panel screw (1) through the hole in the
door warning reflector opening.
- Remove the door handle bezel. Refer to
Door Handle Bezel Replacement
.
- Use a small, flat-bladed tool in order to remove the rear deck
release switch, if equipped (drivers door only).
- Disconnect the electrical connector to the rear deck release switch.
- Remove the screws from the lower switch bezel.
- Remove the lower switch bezel trim panel.
- Using a small flat-bladed tool, at the front of the switch bezel,
push in and lift up to release the front clip.
- Disconnect all electrical connectors.
- Remove the door panel
screw through the switch bezel opening.
- Using J 38778
and starting at the door bottom, disengage the door trim panel retainers.
- Lift up on the trim panel to disengage it from the inner belt
molding.
- Remove the door trim panel from the door.
Installation Procedure
- Position the trim panel on the inner belt molding and press down.
- Install the front door trim panel to the door, pressing into place until
the retainers are fully seated.
- Install the inside door handle bezel. Refer to
Door Handle Bezel Replacement
.
- Connect the rear deck release electrical connector.
- Install the rear deck release switch, pressing into place until
fully seated.
- Install the window regulator handle to the door. Refer to
Door Window Regulator Handle Replacement
.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the door panel screw through the switch bezel opening.
Tighten
Tighten the door trim panel screw to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
- Connect all the electrical connectors to the switch bezel.
- Install the front door switch bezel to the front door trim panel.
- Install the lower switch bezel trim panel.
- Install the screws to the lower switch bezel.
Tighten
Tighten the lower switch bezel trim panel screws to 10 N·m
(89 lb in).
- Install the door trim panel screw through the hole in the front
door warning reflector.
Tighten
Tighten the door trim panel screw to 10 N·m (89 lb
in).
- Install the front door warning reflector. Refer to

Removal Procedure
- With a flat-bladed tool remove the door
warning reflector.
- Remove the door panel screw (3) through the hole in the
door warning reflector opening.
- Remove the door trim panel insert. Refer to
Front Side Door Trim Panel Insert Replacement

- Remove the screw (2) from the arm-rest pull handle.
- Remove the door handle bezel. Refer to
Door Handle Bezel Replacement
.
- Remove the accessory switch plate from
the door trim panel. Refer to
Power Accessory Switch Panel Replacement
.
- Remove the door trim panel screw through the accessory switch
plate opening.
- Remove the window regulator handle, if equipped. Refer to
Door Window Regulator Handle Replacement
.
- Using J 38778
and starting
at the door bottom, disengage the door trim panel retainers.
- Lift up on the trim panel to disengage it from the inner belt
molding.
- Disconnect the rear deck release switch connector.
- Route the power accessory wiring harness through the openings
in the door trim panel.
- Remove the door trim panel from the door.
- Remove the rear deck release switch from the door trim panel,
if required.
Installation Procedure
- Install the rear deck release switch
to the door trim panel, if required.
- Position the trim panel on the inner belt molding and press down.
- Route the power accessory wiring harness through the openings
in the door trim panel.
- Connect the rear deck release switch connector.
- Install the door trim panel to the door, pressing into place
until the retainers are fully seated.
- Install the window regulator handle to the door. Refer to
Door Window Regulator Handle Replacement
.

- Install the accessory switch plate to the door trim panel. Refer

- Install the inside door handle bezel.

- Install the door trim panel screw (2) to the arm-rest pull
handle.
Tighten
Tighten the screw to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
- Install the door trim panel insert. Refer to
Front Side Door Trim Panel Insert Replacement
.
- Install the door panel screw (3) through the hole in the
front door warning reflector.
Tighten
Tighten the door trim panel screw to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
- Install the door warning reflector.
