Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 602491 Size: SH
  1. Remove the front differential carrier shield. Refer to Shield Replacement .
  2. Disconnect the electrical harness from the indicator switch located on the upper left side of the transfer case.
  3. Remove the indicator switch.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 602491 Size: SH
  1. Coat the indicator switch threads with sealer. Refer to Fluid and Lubricant Recommendations in Maintenance and Lubrication.

    2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  2. Install the indicator switch.

    3. Tighten
    Tighten the switch to 5 N·m (44 lb in).

  3. Connect the electrical harness to switch.
  4. Install the front differential carrier shield. Refer to Shield Replacement .
