Chrome Outside Rearview Mirrors Usage Restriction - keywords accessories accessory chrome door down inoperative rear reverse switch up

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

A change was made in vehicle assembly beginning with VIN 78193057 (build date 01/24/07) to the position of the outside mirror control switch which, in turn, drove a change to the factory-installed mirror wiring harness. As a result, the Up / Down power function of the H3 Accessories Chrome Outside Rearview Mirrors (P/N 19156156) will work in reverse (i.e. commanding the mirror -up- will actually move the mirror -down-) if installed on a vehicle built at or after that breakpoint

This mirror kit should only be installed on vehicles built prior to VIN 78193057. Usage restrictions will soon be in placed for this kit. A revised kit is currently being developed for post-breakpoint usage application and is expected to be ready for sale by Q3 2007.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
