Subject: | No Crank And IGN 1 Fuse 33 Is Open |
Models: | 2006-2007 Hummer H3 |
This PI has been revised to add the 2007 model year. Please discard PIT4063.
The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
The vehicle may experience a no crank concern, and the IGN 1 fuse is open. A short to ground on circuit 239 will cause the IGN 1 fuse to go open. The schematic in eSI for the Automatic transmission RPO M30 does not show circuit 239 going to the Clutch Start Switch, and the schematic for the manual transmission RPO MA5 does not show circuit 239 going to the Park/Neutral Position (PNP) Switch.
The IGN 1 fuse supply's voltage to the following components on circuit 239 a pink wire.
Check circuit 239 for short to ground. Check both the clutch start switch and the park/neutral position (PNP) switch wiring regardless of the transmission type. If this vehicle has a manual transmission the park/neutral position switch is not used, but the wires are still there. If this vehicle has a automatic transmission the clutch start switch is not used, but the wires are still there. The harness and connector that is not used, should be taped back to another harness on the vehicle.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
