Component Name

Caution: Do not attempt to repair or alter the head impact energy-absorbing material glued to the headliner or to the garnish trims. If the material is damaged, replace the headliner and/or the garnish trim. Failure to do so could result in personal injury.

Notice: Use care when working around the head curtain inflator module. Sharp tools may puncture the curtain airbag. If the head curtain inflator module is damaged in any way, it must be replaced.

Notice: If a vehicle is equipped with a head curtain inflator module ensure that the inflator module and tether are undamaged. If tether or curtain airbag are damaged in any way, they must be replaced.

Preliminary Procedures

  1. Remove the windshield garnish trim moldings. Refer to Windshield Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement .
  2. Remove the sunshades and the sunshade retaining clips. Refer to Sunshade Replacement .
  3. Remove the sunshade anchor. Refer to Sunshade Anchor Replacement .
  4. Remove the lower center pillar trim. Refer to Center Pillar Lower Trim Panel Replacement .
  5. Remove the upper center pillar trim. Refer to Center Pillar Upper Trim Panel Replacement .
  6. Remove the upper body side trim panels. Refer to Body Side Rear Upper Garnish Molding Replacement .
  7. Remove the cargo and dome lamps. Refer to Dome Lamp Replacement .
  8. Remove the assist handles. Refer to Roof Rail Rear Assist Handle Replacement .
  9. Remove the weather strips around the top of each door opening and the top of the endgate.
  10. Place the rear seats in the stowed position.
  11. Remove the front seat head rest.

Headliner Trim Panel Assembly

Procedure

  1. Disconnect the electrical connectors behind the windshield pillar trim.
  2. Place the front seats fully forward with the seatbacks fully reclined.
  3. With the aid of an assistant, remove the headliner out the back of the endgate opening of the vehicle by lifting the left hand side and lowering the right hand side.
