Engine Flywheel Replacement with Automatic Transmission

Special Tools

J 45059 Angle Meter

1. Remove the transmission. Refer to Transmission Replacement in Automatic Transmission - 4L60-E/4L65-E.



2. Remove and discard the flywheel bolts.
3. Remove the flywheel.
4. Clean and inspect the flywheel. Refer to Engine Flywheel Cleaning and Inspection .

1. Position the flywheel to the crankshaft

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

2. Install the NEW flywheel bolts.

Tighten
Tighten the bolts a first pass to 40 N·m (30 lb ft). Using the J 45059 rotate the bolts a final pass an additional 45 degrees.

3. Install the transmission. Refer to Transmission Replacement in Automatic Transmission - 4L60-E/4L65-E.

1. Remove the clutch assembly. Refer to Clutch Assembly Replacement in Clutch.



2. Remove and discard the flywheel bolts.
3. Remove the flywheel.
4. Clean and inspect the flywheel. Refer to Engine Flywheel Cleaning and Inspection .

1. Position the flywheel to the crankshaft.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

2. Install the NEW flywheel bolts.

Tighten
