Removal Procedure
- Remove the transmission oil level indicator.
- Raise the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
.
- Remove the right hand catalytic converter. Refer to
Catalytic Converter Replacement
.
- Remove the transmission heat shield bolt and shield.
- Remove the nut securing the oil lever indicator tube to the transmission housing.
- Place a drain pan under the vehicle.
- Remove the oil level indicator tube from the transmission case and seal.
- Remove the seal from the transmission case.
Installation Procedure
- Install a new seal into the transmission case.
- Install the oil level indicator tube into the seal.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the nut securing the oil level indicator tube to the transmission stud.
Tighten
Tighten the nut to 18 N·m (13 lb ft).
- Install the transmission heat shield.
- Install the 2 bolts retaining the heat shield.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 17 N·m (13 lb ft).
- Install the right hand catalytic converter. Refer to
Catalytic Converter Replacement
.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Fill the transmission to the proper level with DEXRON® VI transmission fluid. Refer to
Transmission Fluid Check
.
Important: It is recommended that transmission adaptive pressure (TAP) information be reset.
Resetting the TAP values using a scan tool will erase all learned values in all cells. As a result, The ECM, PCM or TCM will
need to relearn TAP values. Transmission performance may be affected as new TAP values are learned.
