Caution:

   • Never drain or store fuel in an open container due to the possibility of fire or explosion.
   • When draining the fuel tank, slowly insert the hand operated pump device in the fuel tank. Do Not force the hand operated pump device in the fuel tank. Forcing the pump device can cause the fuel pump to dislocate from the fuel sender assembly.

  1. Remove the fuel filler cap.
  2. Remove the three bolts and fuel filler pipe splash shield.
  3. Remove the clamp and the fuel filler neck hose from the fuel tank.
  4. Disconnect the fuel tank inlet valve from the fuel filler neck hose opening on the fuel tank.
  5. Use a hand operated pump device to drain the fuel through the fuel filler neck opening on the fuel tank.
  6. Reinstall the fuel tank inlet valve to the fuel tank.
  7. Reinstall the fuel filler neck hose to the fuel tank.
  8. Secure the filler neck hose with one clamp.
  9. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  10. Install the fuel filler pipe splash shield and secure with the three bolts.
  11. Tighten
Tighten the fuel filler pipe splash shield bolts to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).

  12. Reinstall the fuel filler cap.
