1985 THROUGH 1987 SEKI AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WEAR AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION
TRANSMISSION MODELS: VEHICLE APPLICATIONS:
ALL MODELS 1985-87 "M" CAR WITH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION
(This bulletin is revised to add information under the Differential Side and Pinion Gears Worn heading.)
Some of the subject vehicles may experience improper operation of the automatic transmission due to wear of the differential side and pinion gears and/or wear of the direct clutch drum bushing.
Corrective action was incorporated in vehicles built after the following serial numbers (last 8 VIN characters) :
HK740463 (2 door), HK740416 (4 door) for differential side and pinion gear wear.
HK746352 (2 door), HK746297 (4 door) for direct clutch drum bushing wear.
Vehicles exhibiting these conditions built before the above serial numbers, should be repaired using the following parts.
Differential side and pinion gears worn. -
Replace worn/damaged parts as required, using new transmission case P/N 96057455, following shop manual procedures.
Direct clutch drum bushing and associated parts worn/damaged. -
Three different sets of replacement parts are available and the appropriate set should be ordered according to the extent of repair/replacement required. The sets and contents are described as follows:
