Effective with Credit Memorandum 722, a .5 hour diagnostic time allowance may be entered on a warranty claim whenever a technician utilizes the GM CAMS terminal to determine the cause of a driveability complaint. This allowance is being provided to offset the extra time involved in connecting the GM CAMS terminal and running the diagnostic program.
To submit for the diagnostic allowance, a separate claim line must be entered with the labor operation J9997 and .5 hours in regular labor hours. This must be entered in addition to the claim line that describes the operation that corrected the cause of the complaint.
The print out from the GM CAMS terminal is to be attached to the scrapping copy of the repair order to substantiate the claim.
Use of the J9997 labor operation is limited to dealers with GM CAMS terminals.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
