APPLICATION: 1989-92 Geo Prizm equipped with Al 31 L 3-Speed Automatic Transaxle
This bulletin is an amendment to Section 7A1 of the 1989-92 Geo Prizm Service Manuals (ST373-89/90, ST373-91 and ST373-92 respectively). When installing the 1st-reverse brake assembly, the discs and plates MUST be installed in an alternating orientation with a flange at both ends. After the 1st-reverse brake piston return spring snap ring has been installed, install the inner 1st-reverse brake flange with the stepped portion facing downward. Then, install the discs and plates in an alternate order:
A. Disc G. Disc B. Plate H. Plate C. Disc J. Disc D. Plate K. Plate E. Disc L. Disc F. Plate
After all 1st-reverse brake discs and plates have been installed, install the outer 1st-reverse brake flange with the stepped portion facing upward and secure with the 1st-reverse brake snap ring (Figure 1).
