Dear Chevrolet Geo Owner:

This notice is sent to inform you that Chevrolet Motor Division is conducting a recall campaign that includes your vehicle.

REASON FOR THIS RECALL

General Motors has determined that the tire bead area of certain 1990 Chevrolet Geo Prizm and Prizm LSi model vehicles may have been damaged during the tire mounting process. Vehicles with this condition may experience a gradual loss of air pressure.

WHAT WE WILL DO

To correct this condition, dealers will dismount and inspect all tires (except for space-saver spare). Any tire that is found to have the possibility of tire bead damage will be replaced.

This service will be performed for you at no charge.

WHAT YOU SHOULD DO

Please contact your Chevrolet dealer as soon as possible to arrange a service date. Instructions for making this inspection/correction have been sent to your dealer. Please ask your dealer if you wish to know how much time will be needed to schedule, process and repair your vehicle.

The enclosed owner reply card identifies your vehicle. Presentation of this card to your dealer will assist in making the necessary inspection/correction in the shortest possible time. General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
