Removal Procedure

  1. Note: The Fuel Composition sensor may be identified as a Flex Fuel sensor in the service parts listing.
  2. Turn OFF the ignition.
  3. Relieve the fuel pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief .

  4. Object Number: 639075  Size: SH
  5. Remove the fuel composition sensor FCS attachment nut (1).
  6. Remove the 2 FCS attachment bolts.
  7. Remove the FCS from the frame rail (3).

  8. Object Number: 639077  Size: SH
  9. Disconnect the FCS inlet and outlet pipes from the FCS. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service .
  10. Disconnect the FCS electrical connector.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 639077  Size: SH
  1. Connect the FCS inlet and outlet pipes (6) to the FCS (1).
  2. Connect the FCS electrical connector (4).

  3. Object Number: 639075  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the attaching nut (1).
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 17 N·m (12.5 lb ft)

  6. Install the 2 FCS attachment bolts.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 17 N·m (12.5 lb ft)
