Removal Procedure
- Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
- Remove the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
- Remove the coil spring. Refer to Front Coil Springs Replacement .
- Remove the lower ball joint from the Steering Knuckle. Refer to Lower Control Arm Ball Joint Replacement .
- Remove the lower control arm.
Installation Procedure
- Install the lower ball joint to the steering knuckle. Refer to Steering Knuckle Replacement .
- Install the coil spring. Refer to Front Coil Springs Replacement .
- Install the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Check the wheel alignment. Refer to Wheel Alignment Specifications .
Notice:
| ā¢ | Avoid pounding the bolts or any excessive force when installing the control arm to the frame. |
| ā¢ | Always inspect the frame attachment hole for elongation greater than 1 mm clearance around the bolt in any direction at any location. If 1 mm gap or other evidence of damage is detected, repair the frame as required. Refer to Structural Body Repair and Dimensions. |
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
Tighten
Tighten the lower control arm to the frame nuts to 155 NĀ·m
(115 lb ft).
