Attempt to operate the headlamp leveling system.

Does the system operate normally?

  1. Disconnect the connector at the headlamp leveling switch.
  2. Turn the ignition ON with the engine off.
  3. Measure the voltage at CKT 39 (PNK) at the headlamp leveling switch connector .

Is the measurement equal to battery voltage?

B+

Go to Step 5

Repair the open CKT 39 (PNK) between the headlamp leveling switch and the GAUGES fuse.

Did you complete the repair?

Go to Step 10

  1. Turn the ignition switch ON with the engine off.
  2. At the headlamp leveling connector, measure the voltage between CKT 39 (PNK) and CKT 150 (BLK).

Does the measurement indicate battery voltage?

B+

Go to Step 7

Locate and repair the open CKT 150 (BLK).

Did you complete the repair?

Test for an open leveling position signal circuit , CKT 189 (DK GRN), between the headlamp leveling switch and the headlamp leveling actuator.

Did you find an open circuit?

Go to Step 8

Repair the open CKT 189 (DK GRN) between the headlamp leveling switch and the headlamp leveling actuator.

Did you complete the repair?

Go to Step 10

Replace the headlamp leveling actuator.

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
