To determine if sideway noise is present, preform the following steps:
These steps (5 and 6) can help determine which components are causing the interference problem. For example, if the same number of stations are received with the engine running as when the engine was off, the components active with the engine running are NOT causing the interference.
• | Select the ignition switch position which caused the noise problem. |
• | Select a radio station with noise present. |
• | Slowly back the radio out from the H-bracket. |
If sideway noise is present, the noise will become quieter.
Sideway noise can be caused by wiring or hoses behind or on top of the radio or antenna coax cable.
To correct the problem, reroute the wiring or hoses, or shield with aluminum or nickel tape.
