Disconnect the brake transmission shift interlock (BTSI) with the ignition key in the RUN position and the shift lever in PARK.

Does the shift linkage unlock?

1. Disconnect the torque converter clutch (TCC)/stoplamp switch connector.
2. Connect a digital multimeter (DMM)J 35616-200 between CKT 1135 (DK GRN/WHT) cavity A at the TCC/stoplamp switch connector and ground.

Is continuity present?

Go to Step 4

Go to Step 5

Remove the BTSI solenoid assembly.

Does the shift linkage unlock?

-

Go to Step 6

Go to Functional Test or Functional Test in Automatic Transmission

Repair the short to voltage in CKT 1135 (DK GRN/WHT) between the TCC/stoplamp switch connector and the BTSI solenoid connector.

Is the repair complete?

-

System OK

Replace the TCC/stoplamp switch.

Is the replacement complete?

-

System OK

-

Replace the BTSI solenoid.

Is the replacement complete?

System OK
