Removal Procedure
  1. Open the hood.
  2. Disconnect the battery negative cable from the battery. Refer to Battery Cable Replacement in engine electrical.
  3. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling.
  4. Remove the engine cover from the vehicle. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement in Interior Trim.
  5. Remove the upper intake manifold from the lower intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement .

    6. Object Number: 64532 Size: SH
  6. Remove the lower intake manifold from the cylinder heads. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement .
  7. Remove the air conditioning compressor from the mounting bracket and lay aside (left cylinder head). Refer to Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement in HVAC.
  8. Remove the air conditioning compressor mounting bracket and lay aside (left cylinder head). Refer to Accessory Brackets Replacement in HVAC.
  9. Remove the generator from the generator mounting bracket. Refer to Generator Replacement in Engine Electrical.
  10. Remove the generator mounting bracket (right cylinder head). Refer to Accessory Brackets Replacement .

  11. Remove the exhaust manifold from the cylinder head. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Replacement .
  12. Remove the spark plugs from the cylinder head. Refer to Spark Plug Replacement in Engine Electrical.
  13. Remove the valve rocker arm cover from the cylinder head. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm Cover Replacement .
  14. Remove the valve rocker arm from the cylinder head. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm and Push Rod Replacement .
  15. Remove the push rods from the cylinder head. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm and Push Rod Replacement .

  16. Remove the cylinder head from the vehicle.
    17. • For the left cylinder removal, refer to Cylinder Head Removal (Left) .
    • For the right cylinder removal, refer to Cylinder Head Removal (Right) .
  17. Disassemble the cylinder head. Refer to Cylinder Head Disassemble .
  18. Clean and inspect the sealing surfaces of the engine block. Refer to Cylinder Head Clean and Inspect .

Installation Procedure
  1. Assemble the cylinder head. Refer to Cylinder Head Assemble .

    2. Object Number: 64909 Size: SH
  2. Install the cylinder head to the engine block. Refer to Cylinder Head Installation (Left) and Cylinder Head Installation (Right) .
  3. Install the push rod into the engine block. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm and Push Rod Installation .
  4. Install the valve rocker arm to the cylinder head. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm and Push Rod Installation .
  5. Install the valve rocker arm cover to the cylinder head. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm Cover Replacement .

  6. Install the Install the exhaust manifold to the cylinder head. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Replacement .
  7. Install the spark plugs to the cylinder head. Refer to Spark Plug Replacement in Engine Electrical.
  8. Install the lower intake manifold to the cylinder heads. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement .
  9. Install the upper intake manifold to the lower intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement .

  10. Install the generator mounting bracket to the cylinder head. Refer to Accessory Brackets Replacement .
  11. Install the generator to the mounting bracket. Refer to Generator Replacement in Engine Electrical.
  12. Install the air conditioning mounting bracket to the cylinder head. Refer to Accessory Brackets Replacement in HVAC.
  13. Install the a/c compressor to the a/c mounting bracket. Refer to Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement in HVAC.
  14. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling.
  15. Connect the battery negative cable to the battery. Refer to Battery Cable Replacement .
  16. Install Engine Cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement .
