STEERING COLUMN NOISE VEHICLES WITH TILT STEERING

MODELS: LIGHT DUTY VEHICLES

1984 GMC light duty vehicles equipped with tilt steering columns may exhibit a rattling noise in the colunm. This noise may be from the lock bolt area and can be repaired by lubricating the lock bolt.

1. Remove steering wheel, shaft lock cover, cancelling cam, cancelling cam spring, signal switch, buzzer switch, lock cylinder and lock housing cover as shown in the appropriate Light Duty GMC Service Manual Section 3B4.

2. Liberally coat exposed area of lock bolt with lithium base chassis grease, then reassemble. Refer to the appropriate Light Duty GMC Manual Section 3B4 for the reassembly procedure.
