Removal Procedure

Important: If the in-line filter is plugged, the fuel tank should be inspected internally and cleaned if necessary. Refer to Fuel System Cleaning .

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery calble.
  2. Relieve the fuel system pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief Procedure .

  3. Object Number: 439306  Size: SH
  4. Disconnect the fuel feed pipe nuts at the fuel filter (1).

  5. Object Number: 439308  Size: SH
  6. Remove the in-line fuel filter clamp attaching hardware (1).

  7. Object Number: 439317  Size: SH
  8. Remove the clamp (2) from the Inline fuel filter (1).

Installation Procedure

  1. Remove the protective caps from the new filter.

  2. Object Number: 439317  Size: SH
  3. Install the clamp (2) to the Inline fuel filter (1).

  4. Object Number: 439308  Size: SH
  5. Install the in-line filter clamp attaching hardware (1).

  6. Object Number: 439306  Size: SH
  7. Install in the same positions as on the old filter noting direction of fuel flow arrow.
  8. Connect the fuel feed pipes to the filter and tighten (1).

    Tighten
    Tighten the fuel line to fuel filter nuts to 25 N·m(18 lb ft).

  9. Connect the negative battery cable.
  10. Inspect for fuel leaks.
  11. 7.1. Turn ON the ignition switch for 2 seconds.
    7.2. Turn OFF the ignition switch for 10 seconds.
    7.3. Again, turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
    7.4. Check for fuel leaks.
